Had a hot but calm day with the shepherds in Shi’b al Batin. There are three main families who graze their flock in the valley and each want a constant volunteer presence. It is hard to split time between them without feeling like I’m letting someone down by not being close enough to them.
Donate to sustain the work, here!
Even with Hineinu, an international Jewish group, and the Israeli anti-Zionist group working alongside us there are not enough people to go around and fulfill the requests of even a percent of the at-risk Palestinians living in the south Hebron hills area. Violence from soldier-settlers and the Israeli army is ramping up by the day.
After shepherding, me and the other volunteer were invited to eat at one of the family’s homes. It is humbling to be served food during the day when even the young children are fasting but I was getting dizzy from the sun and it felt wonderful to rest for a bit in the cool stone house.
