It’s hard to keep up with the daily acts of violence and keep track of people’s accounts of violence they have endured in in the past. Memories of astounding injustice bubble up in every conversation. People aren’t meaning to shock; it’s just their life. A few nights ago, when talking about animals, a father mentioned that settlers tried to steal his family’s Doberman but when the dog resisted and showed loyalty to the family, the settlers shot and killed him. The family’s beautiful horse was stolen and paraded around town. Goats are tormented by grenades. Just last week the family’s back fence was also cut in an attempt gain access to the sheep. Thankfully the Zionists stopped when they realized that volunteers were present but the fence still has not been fixed. An Israeli flag stands a meter from the damaged enclosure.

Endless stories like this. Every family has endured heinous acts of violence. Physical harm and harm to the land both cut the soul. Nobody sleeps for more than an hour or two at a time. Nobody has enough food or water. My face has changed.
