After all, over 9,000 American officials have trained with Israeli police and military units since 9/11.
Law enforcement from California, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Connecticut, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Georgia, Washington, the District of Columbia, as well as New York, have all received taxpayer funded trips to Israel in order to receive training. Police from other states have privately funded trips from organizations like the far right-wing Anti-Defamation League. The American Jewish Committee’s Project Interchange and the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs have also paid for police chiefs, assistant chiefs, and captains to train in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Agents from the FBI, CIA, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have likewise been trained in so called “anti-terrorist tactics” in Israel. To be sure, these agencies then use the methods they have learned against civilians back home more than against any true civilian threat.
With this in mind, it should be expected that American cops are responding to peaceful student protests with unconstitutional and unconventional violence. They are doing exactly what they have been taught: to treat innocent civilians as criminals.
