Shea Saunters

Today I pulled out invasives around a pond and planted nettle, a geranium-looking plant, cilantro, something from the carrot family, and water plants from a healthier pond a few meters away.

Donate to sustain the work, here!

There was a poem formulating in my mind that has since dissipated in the business of the day. But it had something to do with building soil as a metaphor, planting with intention, and letting things die to provide nutrients for future growth. When I return to work tomorrow perhaps it will return to me.

The overlap between permaculture principles and resisting oppression is interesting:

-Observe and interact
-Catch and store energy
-Obtain a yield
-Apply self regulation and accept feedback
-Produce no waste
-Use renewable resources and services
-Design from pattern to detail
-Integrate rather than segregate
-Use small and slow solutions
-Use and value diversity
-Use edges and value the marginal
-Creatively use and respond to change
